He became the youngest designer awarded the fashion industry's highest tribute, The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. In 1995, the first Marc Jacobs store opened in New York's Soho district. From men's and women's apparel, the designer expanded to include leather goods and shoes, then fragrances in 2006.
